ABOUT US
Probably like many salsa dancers I started off by learning Ceroc in 1998. Then a friend introduced me to Salsa, which I found so exciting. My first dancing instructors were Louie Lapman and Tony Ainsley, who both gave me a good, basic grounding in salsa and inspired me to want to learn more.
It was quite bizarre how I got into teaching. In August 1999 I was in the process of selling my business and invited some friends and customers to the closing down party. What a fantastic party that turned out to be - a genuine garage party! At that party someone asked if I would teach salsa at a club in Sarrat Village. Of course I accepted the challenge and with the help of friends I started to teach salsa dancing using the name “Salsa Travel & Services”.
Since 1999 I have gone from strength to strength, always striving to increase my knowledge and help others achieve their goal of learning to Salsa dance. Any teaching is a continuous learning process, whether it is new legislation, new routines or learning different styles. For me that meant becoming affiliated to a recognised organisation such as the United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dancing in order to benefit from the experience, knowledge and support that being part of such an organisation offered. This affiliation has allowed me to pass on that knowledge to my students.
Anita and I have been fortunate enough to have travelled to some of the most wonderful countries including Cuba, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Miami and Mexico, where we have experienced first-hand the different types of Latin dancing and cultures which we try to incorporate into our teaching process.
My goal is to help you learn to Salsa dance and hopefully for us all to have fun and get fit along the way.
Richard
